Its a very busy Tuesday for us all at Stockton Hall with 4 runners at Carlisle and 2 at Uttoxeter. Shadow Sadness gets the day started in the opening conditionals handicap hurdle at Carlisle where he will be looking to build on his promise in novice hurdles when making his handicap debut, he seems to be in good order at home and hopefully can go well with Ross Turner aboard who knows him well from home.
Cave Top was a star for the yard last year winning on 3 occasions over hurdles and will be looking for another successful season but this time it will be over the larger obstacles. It is his chase debut today so main objective is a clear round and anything else is a bonus. He schooled very well earlier in the week so hopefully he can give Sean Bowen a good spin.
We then move on to Leskinfere who runs in the 2 mile 4 furlong handicap hurdle, he showed plenty of promise last year in what was his first season under rules and has developed well over the summer. He should be more of a finished article this year and we are hopeful of a solid run.
We are then dual represented in the 2 mile novice hurdle at Uttoxeter at 4:30, Twotwothree showed solid level of form in bumpers and should be helped by the wind op he had in the summer and we are hopeful he will outrun his price today as his work has been solid. Court in Matera will also be getting his season under way in the same race, he is still quite inexperienced so will come on plenty for the run but is a very nice prospect for the future.
Our final runner of the day is Shotgun Sally in the mares bumper at Carlisle, she was a winner of her only point to point in Ireland last year and has a good staying pedigree so should be a lovely prospect. Her work has been pleasing but this does look a strong contest for its type so we will learn plenty today.
