We spent last week up in Doncaster looking to strengthen the team further and we certainly did that leaving with 8 very exciting new recruits. The first of the 3 days of the sale saw over 200 unbroken 3 and 4 year olds go through the ring, trade seemed very strong this year with the average rising to over £28,000. We were delighted with the 5 lovely 3 year olds that we managed to acquire. We have had alot of success buying 3 year olds in the past couple of seasons and being able to sell them at future sales after them being successful in there point to point. They are all by fasionable sires in Stowaway(seen above), Multiplex, Sulamani, Morizov and Court Cave.
We then moved on to the second and third day of the sale which were for horses in training, We managed to pick up 3 horses across both days, Firstly we bought a smashing 4 year old son of Darsi called 'Leskinfere' who finished a close 3rd in his only start in Irish point to points. The winner has since been sold for £160,000 and the second who finished just half a length infront of him made €100,ooo so he looks like he could be somewhat of a bargain as he is only going to improve for time and a summer on his back.
We then managed to purchase a lovely prospect for the current flat season in 'Never a Word' this striking 3 year old was purchased from Godolphin after being placed in only his second start in a hot maiden that has already produced winners. He looks like a very smart sort and I'm very exciting on getting started with him.
The 8th and final lot i managed to get my hands on was a highly rated chaser out of the Dan Skelton yard who has been bought for the Myddleton family for son Harry to gain some valuable experience on next year in point to points and hunter chases. He looks the perfect type and should give him plenty of fun and success.
