A great weekend for the yard as two 4 year olds make winning debuts and we maintain our impressive strike rate!

A great weekend for the yard as two 4 year olds make winning debuts and we maintain our impressive strike rate!

It was a busy weekend for all here at Stockton Hall with a total of 6 runners across both Sandon point to point on Saturday and Eyton on Severn on Easter Monday.

We started off the weekend heading to Sandon with 3 fair chances. Desert Sting got the day off to the best possible start when he completed a hat trick of wins in impressive fashion by 25 Lengths. He seems to have improved massively this season, since he had a wind operation. The plan with him now will be to try and exploit what looks a quite attractive handicap mark under rules.

Ed completed a quick double when steering home newcomer Western Morning who made a winning racecourse debut very easily in what admittedly lacked depth. He has done nothing wrong since we purchased him from Doncaster in May and looks like providing Darren Mercer with plenty of fun in the future.

Old favourite Threapwood was the final runner of the day and put up his best performance for a while in finishing a creditable 3rd. Hopefully he can build on the effort and get his head in front before the season is over.

We then headed to Eyton on Severn on Easter Monday with 3 good chances.

Pontresina got us off to the perfect start when making a winning racecourse debut. He is a well bred son of Milan who is a very likeable sort and beat a very highly touted newcomer of Phillip Rowley in good style. He is now for sale and will make a very good national hunt prospect.

Oyster Shell ran a massive race on seasonal reappearance to finish a close second in a very strong Confined. He should be getting his head in front soon.

Shady Character brought the busy weekend to a close with a credible effort to finish a close 3rd behind 2 solid yardsticks. He is a horse we have always thought alot of but is quite backward which probably cost him his winning debut. We will now look to sell him in the yard and will offer someone alot of fun for a lot of time to come.

All in all it was a great weekend for everybody involved and we strengthened our impressive strike rate of 38% of horses winning and 86% being placed.
