Since Christmas, we haven’t had many runners due to the adverse weather conditions, which is often the case in January. With relentless rain and freezing temperatures across the country, many meetings have either been cancelled or run with only a handful of runners in testing ground. Pre-empting this, we eased our foot off the gas and gave the horses a slightly easier time in early January, varying their routine to include rides in the fields and woods to keep them fresh and mentally healthy. It has paid dividends with all seemingly in great order as we start to build up again for a spring campaign.
