I took four horses up to Mr Easterby's yard this morning to do a peice of work up his 1m4f gallop. I took Tinkwood (shantou filly), Samtomjones(presenting gelding), Tergal and Trakeur. I rode Tergal, Paddy Aspel rode Tinkwood, Kate rode Trakeur and David Simmonson rode Samtomjones. A decent flat horse lead us up, we went a strong gallop from the start, Tinkwood and Samtomjones travelled nicely, Trakeur and Tergal were very green to start with in behind but improved the further we went. Tinkwood worked the best but Sam and Trakeur weren't far behind. Tergal was very green but will have learnt a lot form the experience and will improve next time. It is such a good exercise for them having to go somewere new and with different people riding them.
I will run Tinkwood and Samtomjones in a bumper sometime soon all being well and the other two will run in a Point to Point in the new year. They both have schooled well so I think that would be a sensible route, we can always go for a bumper with them in the spring.
