It was no surprise that Forcetoreckonwith was sent off as the favourite for her return to action at Curraghmore last month, as the form of her debut performance at Lingstown last season has worked out particularly well. Second in a four-year-old mares’ maiden on her initial outing last December, then she chased home a subsequent bumper winner when it was particularly notable that the two horses who finished behind her both went on also to win maiden point-to-points of their own.

Forcetoreckonwith joined them as another subsequent winner when returning at Curraghmore. Here, her rider Jack Hendrick kept the tactics simple, knowing that he was on the class horse in the race, with the pair always to the fore, jumping from fence-to-fence, before swiftly putting the race to bed with the minimum of fuss in between the final two fences.

By defeating form horses by eight lengths, including the third-place finisher, who had only been beaten by a length in a maiden hurdle during the season, she ensured real confidence can be taken from the performance. She will be given time to settle at the yard before heading for a hurdle or a bumper early in the new year, she will be a staying chaser for the future and we have high hopes for her.
