Anieres Boy went to Wolverhampton on Friday to make his debut for the yard in a highly competitive field, we felt he would perform with plenty of credit and although he finished 10th of 12th which on the bare result was disappointing he performed very well considering the start he had. He is a big striding horse who likes to race prominently so after the start he was always facing an uphill task. We will now step him up a furlong up to 7 furlongs with the hope this will help him show improved form. All being well he runs on Friday back at Wolverhampton in a apprentice handicap and with a better start there is no reason why he shouldn't go close.
We then moved on to Go Steady on Saturday at our local track Bangor on Dee in what was a very strong if select novice hurdle for the track, he ran with plenty of credit finishing 4th on ground which was probably not ideal. We still have very high hopes for this smashing 4 year old who is always looking to please and will only improve with time and racing. The handicapper has given him a mark of 112 which looks fair and he should be a horse to give his owners lots of fun for plenty of years ahead.
It has been relatively quiet start for the team here at Stockton Hall but this has given us time to concentrate on general maintenance. This has also given us chance to routinely disinfect the whole yard to make sure all the horses maintain their great health which has been present in recent weeks.
Looking forward to the end of the week it is possible we will have a few flat runners at Wolverhampton on both Friday and Saturday evening.
