Our Crusade was our first runner of the season at The Cambridge University Hunts Club meeting at Cottenham and finished a very encouraging fourth in the 2mile 4 furlong maiden.
Cottenham is a very fast track (the time was 4mins 32.9s ! ) so Ed was keen to let him settle and get into his jumping which he did very well.
With half a circuit to go the front two had gone on and Our Crusade found himself in third spot.Although overtaken for third on the run-in,he then stayed on very well and was only beaten 13 lengths by the winner.
It was a great day to start the season.....glorious sunshine and a journey home packed with optimism for the season ahead !
